News from Breezeway Farm

We are delighted that Full Moon proved himself to be "the perfect family pony" and has been sold to the Bednash Family in Haymarket, Virginia. He is one lucky fellow to have 10 year old Alexa and her family carry on with his training...they plan to go to horse shows and hunts and trail rides with him and have promised us lots of photos. Our thanks for this purchase to such a super nice family.

Our thanks to Gwynne Newton for sending along the latest news about how Patch is doing. Her daughter Kelly has been very successful with this nice pony gelding who is by Medicine Man. She is now sharing him with two new riders.... Emmy Longest in red and sister Holly in pink who look like they are making great progress with Patch as their steady mount.

Gwynne says, "Just wanted to give you a little update on Pumpkin Patch (Patch). He and Kelly had a very successful show season last year and they are gearing up to do the Children's Pony divisions this year (2'). Patch is also giving lessons to two wonderful young girls, and he is incredibly patient and safe with them as always. I've attached some pictures of them - we are very proud of them and Patch! Holly (age 9) and Emmy (age 7) Longest. We are looking forward to an adorable year with them at the shows! Thanks."

Breezeway Rocky Road and Elysia Hall

Once in a while a foal comes along that is very special and Rocky was just that. He has always known how "to win friends and influence people." The Hall Family has just decided that he needs to become part of their wonderful family--first for Elysia and then when she moves on up to a horse, he will become the pony for younger brother Phillip to enjoy. What a lucky pony and I think the Halls will wonder what they ever did without Rocky! Our thanks to all. We hope we get reports and many photos to share.

New Best Friends

Manteo is the luckiest pony to now be a part of the Kruep Family in Bumpass, Virginia. We feel very honored that Dr. Kruep decided after a long, hard search that Manteo was the right pony for her young son Matthew to move on up to. She tells us, "Matthew is riding Manteo around the farm and is getting used to him and the change in size and stride...he rides him five days a week and is very happy with his new pony!"

We are looking forward to hearing more from Matthew and will share photos and success stories as we get them. Our thanks again and our very best wishes!

Our thanks and best wishes to Peggy Figler for giving this lovely pony and super conscientious rider the opportunity to learn and grow at her great facility. We look forward to getting more pictures and hearing lots of success stories.

ESP Kinnakeet at first horse show

Congratulations to Kinnakeet for completing his first horse show so successfully! He competed at Speakeasy Farm on September 6, 2008 in the Walk Trot Division and was Reserve Champion, ridden by Cierra Biel. This young gelding is by Medicine Man and is out of Starry, Starry Night and was foaled in March, 2005. Congratulations to the Antonacci Family at Equus Springs Farm.

She is out of La Vie Danseur "Lady" (tb) and is by Handsome a gorgeous APHA stallion who stands at Smallwood Farm. You can look at her baby pictures in our Foals album. Now named The Cat's Pajamas, "PJ" is five years old and shows great promise. Our best wishes to her new owners and we hope she turns out to be everything you could hope for.

Breezeway Peace Pipe and Kerianne Manipole

The February 2008 Virginia Horse Journal page 34 shows Breezeway Peace Pipe and owner/rider Kerianne Manipole as Battlefield Horse Show Association 2007 Champions in Pony Equitation, Large Pony Hunter, and they received the Virginia Pony Breeders Association award and the Forrest Linton Pony Classic award. They also went to Lexington for the Associate Finals and won the Pony Equitation there. Kerianne says "It was an amazing year! Piper did so well and behaved perfectly through everything. I was so proud of him!! Winning the Forrest Linton Pony Classic was especially exciting for me because I trained with Forrest from the time I was five, up until he passed away. I felt it was a great honor to be able to say I won that, and I know he would be proud."

And how proud we are that this 1997 son of Medicine Man and Calico Cat has gone on to reach this level of achievement! Kerianne has done an amazing job bringing out the best in this nice pony and we thank them and congratulate them! Kudos!!

Kelly Newton and Patch

Proud mother Gwynne Newton shared some great news with us this week. Daughter Kelly and pony Patch were Champion in the Short Stirrup Division last weekend at Coventry Farm. It was their first time jumping gates instead of cross rails! Patch handled it all very well and took great care of Kelly again. The Newtons got this wonderful pony from Lori Aylor who owned his dam and who bred her to Medicine Man and got Patch!!! Congratulations to all and thanks to Gwynne for sharing the news.

Apache Blue aka Patches of Blue owned by Kristen LaLuna

We just got the following message from Kristen today!! (July 24, 2006)

Hi Mimi,

I know that you love to hear about how your ponies have been doing. I showed Apache Blue, also called Patches of Blue-- at the Keswick Show this past weekend and I wanted to let you know that he was Champion in the Local Hunter Pony division. It's the first "A" show I've done with him and he was so good.

Thank you, Kristen, for sharing your news with us. "Patches" is by Medicine Man and is out of Blue Meaney (TB). He was bred by the Gartons of Honey Do Farm in Scottsville and was foaled in 1996. He will be moving on to New York soon and I know Kristen will miss this talented pony.

Best wishes to the new owners of Apache Blue. We hope his career in New York will be as gratifying as it has to Kristen LaLuna who has owned this son of Medicine Man for several years. Best wishes to Kristen as she begins college this fall.

Morgan Malone is all smiles as she rakes in many blue ribbons on her new pony Blue Manitou. A full brother to Apache Blue, "Mani" is by Medicine Man and out of Blue Meaney (TB). Both these nice geldings were bred by Fred and Ginny Garton at Honey Do Farm in Scottsville, Virginia.
